Professor Deepti Ganapathy's experience sits uniquely in three quadrants – a former journalist, current communication and media scholar and educator — working closely with policy makers that gives her a multidimensional way of thinking and collaborating.
Prof. Deepti Ganapathy is a sought-after keynote speaker globally, with 20 years of practitioner and academic experience, a thought leader in the space of climate communication, leadership and health communication. She continues to write for the Popular Press, participates in Radio live broadcasts on All India Radio, is invited on many podcasts and continues to build a repertoire of more than 1000 articles in publications such as Deccan Herald, The Times of India, Forbes India, Lonely Planet, Nat Geo, Reader's Digest, Travel+Leisure, Indian Express, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, The Hindu Business Line, ET Prime, and Entrepreneur India.
Dr. Deepti Ganapathy has been associated with IIM Bangalore since 2016 as an Adjunct Faculty and from 2021 as a full-time faculty. As Chairperson of the Centre for Management Communication, she was instrumental in bringing in a digital and sustainability focus, which had an amplifier effect on the courses offered through the area. The events and courses organised through the Centre gained visibility — nationally and globally.
Dr. Deepti offered the first ESG programme for Executive Education in 2022, titled 'ESG — Management, Reporting and Communication'. Since then, she has designed and offered programmes on Sustainability for undergraduate courses (BBA DBE) and post-graduate courses with international immersions to Switzerland to study Green business practices, amongst others.
Her research has been published in leading management journals such as the Lancet Planetary Health and Academy of Management Learning and Education, as well as in highly ranked Communication journals such as Journalism and International Journal of Strategic Communication. She is the author of Media and Climate Change: Making Sense of Press Narratives — listed in the Honour Book List 2022 in the Business Category at the Green Literature Festival.
A former award-winning journalist, she is an Expert Committee member of WHO's Infodemic Management group ↗. She is an Affiliate Faculty at the Centre for Climate Change Communication, George Mason University ↗ and a former Visiting Scholar to UC San Diego. Dr. Deepti Ganapathy plays golf, is a trained Carnatic vocalist, classical and contemporary dance artist, loves hiking up mountains and assists at INDEEP — a social entrepreneurial initiative founded by her mother, a dedicated educator and philanthropist.
